You may well be familiar with the various animated or 'Fairy Tale' versions of 'Alice in Wonderland' but underneath the apparent strange fantasy are many serious topics and themes for discussion.

The story parallels the journey from childhood to adulthood. Alice encounters situations in which adaptability is essential. Her journey is one of bewilderment at the beginning to self confidence and problem solving at the end.

The themes of: language learning, size change, rule learning are all part of her adventure.

Alice is a young girl who wishes for a more exciting world. She takes a magical journey through a rabbit hole to 'Wonderland'. While there she encounters various characters such as The March Hare, The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts and The White Rabbit. There are many games played during her adventure and she has to learn the 'rules'; a metaphor for learning new social situations that every child makes as they grow up. Language is a main theme in the play, it can be a great source of joy but also confusion, Carroll plays with the language so Alice has to discern between logic and nonsense.

The play has a serious undertone to it that will lead to further discussion topics as well as being a fun and entertaining show. We feel this will be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their language ability.
